Island of infinite possibilities
Whether intensive recreational program or simply relaxing. In El Refugio and the Casa del Sol they are definitely "in the middle". Tenerife, the island of eternal spring, is a paradise for leisure activities of all kinds. The range spans from swimming, hiking and cycling, golf and tennis, motorcycling to surfing and paragliding - and most of the year round. The infinite diversity of the island makes it possible to trudge through snow and swim in the sea in a morning. There is also the second largest carnival in the world in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
The El Refugio and the Casa del Sol are located in the northwest of Tenerife, near Puerto de la Cruz with magnificent views of the Atlantic Ocean and the Pico del Teide, Spain's highest mountain.
Walks, hikes and bike rides start right in front of the house. Tennis courts are located in the immediate vicinity. The preferred hiking and mountain biking regions as well as excellent golf courses can be reached within a short driving time. The top excursion destinations of Tenerife, such as the Loro Parque with its unique dolphin, orca and sea lion shows is only a few kilometers away and also the island capital Santa Cruz and the Teide National Park with its impressive landscape are easily accessible.
Swimming is possible at El Refugio and Casa del Sol all year round due to the heated pools. The rough Atlantic coast is a paradise for surfers (the top destination Playa El Soccorro can be reached in about 20 minutes), for gentler natures but more suitable for walks. Good opportunities for swimming in the vicinity are available in the secured sea pools of Puerto de la Cruz, the beautiful beach of La Teresitas (about 30 minutes by car) or even in the winter - warm south of the island.
For culinary discoveries, numerous restaurants in the immediate vicinity, as well as markets on which fresh goods invites you to try these ingredients as a master chef in the El Refugio or in the Casa del Sol itself. (For the "normal" supply honks the baker after old proven manner at the door and is also the way to supermarkets not far.)
Loro Parque (Spanish for "parrot park") is a 13.5-hectare (33-acre) zoo located on the outskirts of Puerto de la Cruz on Tenerife, Spain where it houses an extensive and diverse reserve of animal and plant species. The park was initially conceived as a paradise for parrots and has developed over the years into one of the biggest attractions of the Canary Islands, with over 40 million visitors so far.
In 1994 Loro Parque founded Loro Parque Fundación, an international foundation member of IUCN set up to highlight the need for conservation of nature and the environment. The foundation has carried out 82 conservation projects in 28 countries throughout the world, of which 31 keep being active with approximately 150 persons working daily for the conservation of nature. Since its creation they have spent more than $10,000,000 in such projects. The foundation is particularly active in conserving the most endangered parrot species in the world, both with captive breeding and field projects as well.

SIAM PARK
The owners of Loro Parque have constructed another park in the South of the Island called Siam Park, which opened in 2008 and claims to be the biggest water park in Europe
It is located on the TF1 highway in Costa Adeje. At 18.5 hectares (46 acres). Siam Park features a Siamese theme, and claims to be the most spectacular water attraction in Europe. The park was opened by Her Royal Highness the Princess of Thailand Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.
Siam Park is the world's first green water park. The park's water is heated to 25 °C (77 °F). Keissling calls Siam Park the "first air conditioned outdoor aquatic park in the world". To conserve the island's water, Siam Park has a desalination plant on site, which desalinates 700 cubic meters (25,000 cu ft) of sea water per day. After the water is used in the rides, the park recycles the water by using it to water the park's plants. In addition, Siam Park has the first natural gas plant in the Canary Islands.

The Auditorio de Tenerife, was designed by architect Santiago Calatrava Valls. It is located on the Avenue of the Constitution in the Canarian capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and next to the Atlantic Ocean in the southern part of Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Construction began in 1997 and was completed in 2003.
The majestic profile of the auditorium has become an architectural symbol of the city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the island of Tenerife and the Canary Islands. It is also regarded as the finest modern building in the Canary Islands and one of the most emblematic buildings of Spanish architecture. In March 2008, it was included by the post office in a set of six stamps (Correos) depicting the most emblematic works of Spanish architecture. In 2011, the image of the Tenerife Auditorium was included in a series of commemorative coins of 5 euros, which displayed the most emblematic symbols of several Spanish cities. It is one of the major attractions of Tenerife and home to the Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife.

KARNEVAL
Is the biggest dancing festival world-wide (guiness world records)
The fun starts in February and lasts about three weeks. There are not only disguise competitions and galas, but above all lots and lots of party in the streets around the Plaza Espana in Santa Cruz. The whole island comes to a standstill - everyone participates in the festivities, in a good mood, great disguise - all a bit crazy, funny and frivolous. You should have seen Tenerife's party time. It's something you will not forget in a hurry. But beware: early bookings are a must !! Every year visitors from all over the world come to this spectacle. Colorful and rhythmic highlight is the big parade on Shrove Tuesday.
On Ash Wednesday then the "sardine" is burned; Men and women follow her in a procession dressed as mourning widows. After that, people continue to celebrate in La Orotava and Puerto de la Cruz for days; Finally the Carnival follows in Los Cristianos.

The Museum of Nature and Man is housed in the building of the former General Hospital, which is an outstanding example of classical architecture in the islands and probably the masterpiece of the architect Oraa. In addition to a permanent exhibition on the ground floor, which begins with a tour of the origins of the Canary archipelago, pieces of science and archeology are exhibited on the first floor.
